What are LUTs?
LUTs are essentially filters for your video. Much like a photo filter all you have to do is apply it onto your footage using your video editor of choice and it will change the colors of your footage to make it look a certain way! The exact same way a photo filter works!
Why use LUTs?
Speed and Efficiency...
Would you rather spend a couple dollars for a LUT that allows you to quickly throw it onto your video to get a professional color grade?
OR
Spend hours finely color grading your video from scratch while also watching tutorials about how to do a certain effect just to do it all over again when you start a new project?
Take your pick :-)
How does a LUT Work?
It's Magic!
But in all seriousness, a LUT tells your editing program that if it sees a certain color it should change that color to look like another, slightly different color.
Then it does that for all the colors in your video and voila! You the colors of your video have changed!
